You can create all sorts of bold and dramatic illusions using makeup.
One of the hottest, most wanted looks though is definitely the sultry
eye. Not only is this look mysterious, but it is also very, very eye
catching and sexy, especially to the opposite sex (and sometimes even
the same sex).
Most women who do not practice with eye shadows though, are under the
impression that swiping on some grays and black shadows are all they
need to create a sultry eye. They are close, but so far off.
Creating a sultry eye, requires patience, proper colors, and of course blending.
The very first thing you will want to do if you are looking to create a
sultry eye is to cover the entire eyelid in a smoky gray shimmering
eyeshadow. Silver hues work fine. After you apply this layer of
silver/gray to the entirety of the eyelid, you will not want to reach
for your black eyeshadow.
For the black color, you want it to be a matte color, where there is
no shimmer in it. You will apply this black shadow to the very far
corners of your eyes, and blend it into the silver. The look should be a
faded mist of the silver/gray eyeshadow, running in with the black. Do
not over blend the 2 colors together, otherwise they will become one big
messy color.
Once you mastered the blending of these 2 colors, you can now go extra
bold by adding one final color the the eyelid. You will want to pick
either a purple, blue, or pink.
You will then use a very small eyeshadow brush, and dab a very small
amount of the color to your inner lid, closest to your nose. Lightly
blend this color in with the silver.
Your overall result will be a beautiful sultry eye, with a little color to make it unique and different.
You can also play with other colors for the inner lid such as greens,
yellows, or even bronze colors. Only use a very small amount though.
Once you have your eyeshadow in place, your final finishing touch is
to add a dark, thick bold line of black eyeliner to finish the eye. This
will pull the entire eye together, giving you a mysterious sultry
finish. I always finish the eye in a Cleopatra style, by adding a small
wing to the outer area of my upper eyelid.
In order to master the look though, you have to practice, so don't get
deterred if you mess up a few times. It is very hard to get both
eyelids to match, with a little practice though, you'll be a pro in no
time.
